A big part of my life recently has been having the exciting opportunity to be Musical Director and Composer for a new work produced by Country Arts SA called “Our Corka Bubs”. I was honoured to work with Choreographer and Director Gina Rings, dancers Taree and Caleena Sansbury, live musician and story teller Owen Love, and Designer Chantal Henley.

This beautiful new show had it’s debut performances to sold out audiences at Tandanya Arts Centre in Adelaide, and followed on with a 3 week tour throughout regional South Australia, receiving rave reviews and positive interest.

Our Corka Bubs is grounded in theories of early childhood development and Aboriginal storytelling. The performance uses gentle motifs and gestural dance along with traditional live and recorded sounds.  This mixture creates a gently interactive and transformative work paying attention to a baby’s need to both explore and to feel secure.

Our Corka Bubs is based on This (Baby) Life by Sally Chance.

I am so proud of the music that was created for the show, and I’m hoping to make the music available for purchase later this year due to popular demand! Stay tuned for this…

Heather.
