Ashtanga is a sanskrit term, ashto means “eight”, while anga means “limb”. Each limb or stage in the eightfold path is a step along the path to self-realization. The eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga are :-

YAMA – moral codes
NIYAMA – self-purification and study
ASANA – the practice of yoga postures
PRANAYAMA – breath control
PRATYAHARA – sense control
DHARANA – concentration
DHYANA – meditation
SAMADHI – contemplation, self-realization or a state of bliss

The Adelaide Ashtanga Yoga Shala teaches in the traditional methods as taught by Pattabhi Jois and offers both guided and mysore style classes. For more information on classes offered by the shala please view our class timetable at www.adelaideashtangayoga.com
