Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient form of yoga which uses vinyasas, which link postures and breath to form dynamic sequences, creating a dynamic flow throughout the practice. Ashtanga is a sanskrit term, ashto means “eight”, while anga means “limb”. Each limb or stage in the eightfold path is a step along the path to self-realization. The eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga are :-
YAMA – moral codes
NIYAMA – self-purification and study
ASANA – the practice of yoga postures
PRANAYAMA – breath control
PRATYAHARA – sense control
DHARANA – concentration
DHYANA – meditation
SAMADHI – contemplation, self-realization or a state of bliss
The Adelaide Ashtanga Yoga Shala teaches in the traditional methods as taught by Pattabhi Jois and offers both guided and mysore style classes. For more information on classes offered by the shala please view our class timetable at www.adelaideashtangayoga.com

WHAT IS A HOUSE CONCERT? House concerts are magical and intimate performances that create wonderful memories and a close connection between the musicians, host and audience. A House Concert is not a party – rather a House Concert is an event with a dedicated focus on the musical performances. Before and after the concert will be time to mingle and socialise. A house concert is a private event, exclusive to the hosts network. It is not a publicly advertised event. If you receive an invitation it means you are part of either the host’s or musician’s exclusive network.

I’m so happy to announce that tomorrow fellow colleague Stuart Rose and I will be heading off to the very beautiful Lokananda Retreat Centre to co facilitate our second Sound Mantra and Meditation Retreat Weekend. We’ll be teaming up with Swami Dayananda, an experienced and insightful author and spiritual teacher. We’ll be sharing over the weekend some soul energising sound and music activities for retreaters, as well as having some bliss time taking in the lovely surroundings at the Lokananda homestead. Hopefully I’ll take a few happy snaps to share on my site… In the meantime if you like music that’s relaxing and rejuvenating, checking out “Harmonic Project~Sounds for Inner Stillness” is a must. Harmonic Project’s CD Divine Resonance has been popular in the wellness and holistic community, and is available on iTunes.
