I was delighted to hear from my friend Neal Vincent Powell, that he wanted to make a portrait artwork of me! We met back in the day at visual arts school in the late 90’s ~ I studied jewellery design there. I asked if he would say a little something about himself so I could share his story with you all.

He created the portrait from a photo of me with my Irish Bouzouki. It was a happy time in life, and the photo, and portrait has captured it!
Thank you Neal!

Neal Vincent Powell: I came from England and arrived in Australia in 1971; 44years ago earlier this month. This means that I have lived in South Australia for 44years; I thinks that makes me an Australian. My art, has always been there for me. My design teacher in high school said I should be in an art school, but that waited till 1997. I met Heather Frahn at North Adelaide School of Art, which is where I found out she was a singer and songer writer. I went to some gigs and was amazed at her powerful vocals and passion; there are elements in Heather’s song that link with me personally and remind me of elements from my past be it a song from long ago or a memory.  Art & Music have a positive role in society because they bring people together. They hopefully make people think and feel and be happy in some way.
