Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient form of yoga which uses vinyasas, which link postures and breath to form dynamic sequences, creating a dynamic flow throughout the practice. Ashtanga is a sanskrit term, ashto means “eight”, while anga means “limb”. Each limb or stage in the eightfold path is a step along the path to self-realization. The eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga are :-

YAMA – moral codes
NIYAMA – self-purification and study
ASANA – the practice of yoga postures
PRANAYAMA – breath control
PRATYAHARA – sense control
DHARANA – concentration
DHYANA – meditation
SAMADHI – contemplation, self-realization or a state of bliss
